Gun Locks Lock It For Love

A single gun lock can save a life
Lock It For Love (LIFL) is the Grandparents for Gun Safety signature program. Since 2017, GGS has distributed thousands of free high-quality locks to adults who say they could use a gun lock and GGS provided safe firearm storage educational materials at events throughout the Kansas City metro. A simple gun lock can prevent a curious child, despondent teen, or even an older adult with dementia from accessing and firing a gun, preventing potential death or injury. Everytown for Gun Safety estimates 4.6 million American children live in homes with at least one loaded and unlocked gun.

Lock It For Love volunteers
Lock It For Love was modeled on the success of a program developed by St. Louis-based Women’s Voices Raised for Social Justice. The program has trained more than 80 volunteers. They participate at social service agency events, area hospitals, community gatherings and suicide prevention programs throughout the Kansas City metro area. Volunteers offer free, high-quality gun locks plus information about safe gun storage.

Gun lock demonstrations
GGS collaborates with more than a dozen police departments on both sides of the Missouri and Kansas state line. Our volunteers are often accompanied by a police officer who demonstrates how to use the lock correctly. Together, they answer questions about storing firearms safely.
