In KCK, a 4-year-old boy shot and killed himself after he and his 5-year-old brother found their  parents’ loaded, unsecured handgun.*

In KCMO, a teenaged girl died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.*

In Kansas City, North, a husband and wife were found dead in the home from gunshot wounds – it was ruled a murder-suicide.*

On June 19, 2026, GGS distributed its 10,000th free gun lock at a Juneteenth event in Kansas City, MO. Since the GGS Lock It For Love program began in 2017, 160 volunteers have given out locks and educational materials at 360 community events to residents of 366 ZIP codes, mostly in the Kansas City region.

Your support allows GGS to continue this work to make this community safer one lock, one more secured firearm, one life saved from what might have been.
Each lock can keep a curious toddler, depressed teen, or someone in a vulnerable situation from being the next tragedy.
