National Gun Violence Awareness Day is dedicated to focus on the many facets of gun violence – from homicide, suicide and preventable deaths. It is important to Be Aware that of the 40,000 deaths due to gun violence 2/3 are a result of suicide or preventable deaths, while most of the attention is paid to the 1/3 of deaths caused by homicide (with just 1% of those the result of mass shootings).
